The Invisible Dog
Season 6 opening
September begins with the work of two female artists working in exile from their birth nations. In the Main Gallery, we have Sayeh Sarfaraz's "Wolves in the Wall". Both Sarfaraz, and the exhibition's curator, Claire Moeder, are based in Montreal though Sarfaraz was born in Shiraz, Iran. Her installation is a universe of miniature silhouetted figures representing dozens of faceless characters with which she replays the violent, surreal scenarios that the dictatorship and repression of the Green Movement has engendered.
In contrast, Cuban born, New York artist Claudia Paneca's "State of Matter" , curated by Gaelle Porte, will transform The Glass House into a sanctuary using a diverse array of materials including clay, porcelain, wood, drawings, text, and photographs. Following this installation, Brooklyn based Carmen Osterlye's "Apophany" will use video to make feel time differently and reconsider the environment we inhabit.
